Gitex Shoppers in Dubai

Dubai residents were again treated to a variety of electronics from mobile phones, micro SD cards to televisions.

My friend and I went there yesterday since R was covering the late night shift (4pm to 12nn). I was a bit hesitant to go but since it only gives shoppers a week to see if they fancy anything, we decided to give it a shot.

My oh my…people were everywhere!

Once you get in the Dubai World Trade Centre, you can see people coming in almost all directions! It was chaos!! We had to shake off the feeling of backing out and decided to join the crowd.

In the end, I was able to buy us a printer and my friend got herself a Buffalo external hard drive with five freebies! πŸ™‚

The printer was a good buy for me and I know would suit my “home office” set up when we go home πŸ™‚

I do also have to commend the RTA officers and Dubai police because they were able to manage the traffic and the flow of people coming in and out of the metro.

The Gitex shoppers ends this Saturday, 06 October 2012.

Yahoo is playing up :S

For the past few days, I have been having issues with my Yahoo! account. It’s either I could not sign in or it just logs me off.

Last Wednesday, I browsed via my phone (company provided HTC windows phone) and saw that I had about 85 mails which was kind of odd since it was close to the end of the day already. I usually get the deals and news in the morning so I was caught unaware of where these 85 mails came from. When I opened my email, there it was… all the mails were delivery failure notice.

I have been hacked (again)?!

It is a bit irritating however I did not take the right action. Instead, I just deleted all the mail delivery failure notice and decided that it can wait the next day. Well, it was not really… I logged in and decided to change my password (also my colleague advised me to do so because the hacker might have saved my details already).

I did and immediately forgot the password (note: which is why you should never ever do it in the office where you will constantly be bugged by office emails requiring an urgent response). Anyhoo, I have hit the “forgot password” and viola! I manage to get a new one (which until now, I have not forgotten).

Now, this made me think if I should maintain this email address or not. It has been me for the past 10 years or more… and it is like my social identity for Yahoo… though I have to say as I now grow olderΒ become of age, I don’t think the screen name “funkeyguhl” is still appropriate? :p

What do you think?

Updates!

A lot of things have happened over the past few months… Let’s see…

  • got myself a Samsung Tab
  • enrolled in a fitness club

I think these two are the highlights of my two months.

I decided to get the Samsung Tab Plus because it is useful on those days when I cannot use the computer (1) because Robert is using it and (2) I can use the other computer but I am more for browsing rather than anything else.

It was a good buy because now, I can skype better with my mom and at the same time, I can read my magazines from Zinio! (which is a nice website by the way)

I think that’s about it for me.

Still pretty much the same… Does that make me boring? I am not too sure…

I have to go now as I need to prepare for my “Body Jam” class! πŸ˜›

*hopefully, more to follow! Not next month but like maybe tomorrow? πŸ™‚ *

I think I am beginning to lose it!!

I am (again) in a dilemma if I should buy a gadget or not. My hands (including my toes) are both itching – I think my toes for new shoes and my hands for a new gadget (say what?!).

My latest craze: How to get a new laptop without losing our savings!

I have been pestering Haze for all the information I need regarding her Macbook Air! Yes! If you are a friend and you have known me for a long time — this is a dilemma for me and I know… yes, I am giving you permission to roll your eyes now… I want need the laptop.

I want to be mobile (for one thing). Usually, I have a hard time sticking to one place most especially if I want to write – what I do, I move around the house (honest!). Good thing about this habit is that I do get to produce sound results of my writing – enough to be appreciated by my viewers and my clients (naks!).

Previously, I purchased an Acer netbook when Rob and I were miles apart. It was a good laptop – served its purpose though I think sometimes my fingers struggled in typing however it worked its magic to me – I was able to move around the room if I needed to think. If I remember it right, there was also a time when I took it with me in one of the coffee shops at Burjuman because I needed to think of an idea to write for my blog?

When Rob came back here, I did not see the point of owning two laptops so I sold it to my friend. Unfortunately, it was too late when I realised that we do need to have two laptops most especially when I have some online projects to do.

I managed to snag a second laptop… but I was not able to use it…. I am still attached to our dependable Acer Aspire 5570.

So now, I am in a dilemma if I want to buy the Macbook Air and if I do want to, should I buy the 11 or 13 inch?

=== excuse me ===

What is wrong with me?!

=== thank you ===

I do not want to always end up buying gadgets because I am not satisfied with what I have 😦 or because I want to try out another gadget 😦 😦

I wonder if shops would allow customers to have a 10-day trial of the product? That way, we can assess if we really, really need it or not (wishful thinking)? This is why I envy the bloggers who are fortunate enough to try out products! Lucky you!!

Still no resolution… maybe I need to investigate about this… or I can just buy a decent laptop that is light and affordable? Aarrrgghhh….

Let me go back to my thinking mode…

Using the neighbor’s internet ….

Happy New Year everybody!

I am greeting you from our new place somewhere here in Karama, Dubai. Yeap, we just cannot leave this place and move somewhere else… This has been home for about 3 years now and we are looking forward for another year of staying in this place whilst we transition from moving to our new home – The Philippines!!!!!

So, since we have just moved, I am using our neighbor’s unsecured internet connection (Thanks neighbor!!) and hopefully, the uber nice and sweet technician will arrive in our doorstep in time to hook us up with Etisalat’s latest baby – eLife!!! We will get the perks of having internet (8mbps), television (hello Fox movies) and landline ( err… ).

So I guess that will be it for now because the neighbor might notice I’m using his connection and decides to cut us off :p

Till my next post!! πŸ™‚

Bejeweled Blitz Addict

I Broke Bejeweled

This game has been keeping me up for the past few weeknights and weekends!

I thought I already figured out how to play it but ended up not topping out my previous high score!

Facebook is really addicting because of these applications available in their website – which actually make you not want to leave… not only that, they are still trying to come up with some more (stop it please!!).

Imagine this:-

You get to post your status, chat with your friend, poke your friend and challenge him / her to play Bejeweled Blitz! How cool is that?!

Calm down.

Breathe.

I needΒ  to sleep now. :=(

Reblog this post [with Zemanta]

I didn’t know it was THIS hard!!

Warning!

This post might be too corny for a techie’s point of view but I just need to record this!!

I have been trying soooo hard… so hard to create a website 😦 I have tried my best to understand the last one tha I have done and my oh my… I had enough of it and decided right then to cancel my account!!

The frustration was killing me (I was up until 2:30AM!!!!). Not that I see myself as a techie expert but I thought my knowledge of how to create a website was enough… I was wrong!!! 😦

I decided to cool it down but it kept popping up in my head. So I decided to seek a friend’s help.

So I am now trying to use the webhost provider Jayme’s using so that if everything else fails, I have back up πŸ˜›

Things I have learned:-

  1. Be patient
  2. Try to comprehend the syntax (but sometimes since you are not a techie person, it will take time)
  3. Be patient
  4. It does not hurt to ask (friends are there and so is the support system from your web host provider – 24/7)
  5. Be patient

That’s all folks!
